Miriam Slater is a figurative painter who is also known for her painted objects including musical instruments, furniture, jewelry and teacups. She works in a variety of styles including classicism, cubism, expressionism, surrealism, trompe l'oeil, and a style based on Japanese woodblock prints. She is based in California, working in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and is married to the draughtsman and figurative artist Harry Carmean.
