| Orestes Stefano Sarsi was born in Florence, Italy in 1868. Sarsi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. By 1910 he had settled in San Francisco. He assisted Bernard Maybeck in building the Palace of Fine Arts for the PPIE. He then sculpted many of the monuments in Forest Lawn Cemetery before his demise in Hollywood, CA on Feb. 2, 1926.
