This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Patrick Strzelec’s most recent works are formal explorations in the relations between solid and void, gravity and extension, malleability and rigidity, and regularity and chaos.  In a recent exhibition of his works at the Jay Grimm Gallery in New York City, Strzelec used a variety of materials including steel, rubber, and plaster to address the aforementioned issues.  The human scale, dynamic lines, and tactile quality of the works encourage the interaction between the sculpture and the viewer.

Woman in Bathtub, part of the permanent collection at Grounds For Sculpture, is from an earlier period in the artist’s career.  It was made in 1979, the year after Strzelec earned his BFA from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL.

Patrick Strzelec, a Chicago native, received his MFA at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ in 1987.  In 1998, he was awarded the Rome Prize and the National Endowment for the Arts Award, both for sculpture.  He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States including the Toledo Museum of Fine Art, Toledo, OH; The James Michener Art Museum, Doylestown, PA; Princeton Gallery of Fine Art, Princeton, NJ; Snyder Fine Art, Jay Grimm Gallery, Barbara Toll Fine Arts, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters, all of which are in New York City, NY.

From 1980-87, Strzelec worked as an assistant to artist Joel Shapiro.  He has taught sculpture at the School of the Visual Arts in New York City as well as at Harvard University.  His work is included in various, private, corporate, and public collections such as The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT; Trenton Museum, Trenton, NJ; Newark Museum, Newark, NJ; Zimmerli Museum, New Brunswick, NJ; Johnson & Johnson Collection, New Brunswick, NJ, to name a few.
