| | Born in San Francisco, CA on June 29, 1867. Pauline was the daughter of Constant Schoenmakers, a prominent builder. She studied art at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute under Amédée Joullin and Arthur Mathews. Following her marriage to Christian Westphal in 1899, she stopped painting to raise a family.
