| | Born in Portland, OR on July 27, 1915. The daughter of artist Fred Strickland, Phyllis studied in Los Angeles at the Chouinard Art School, Art Center School, and with S. Bell and Richard Munsell. A resident of San Francisco in 1940, the following year she wed artist Harley Melzian and moved to Detroit, MI. She died in Northport, MI on July 27, 1993. Member: Laguna Beach AA.
