| Born in Los Angeles, CA on Jan. 4, 1909. Shields studied at the Otis Art Institute. During the 1930s she was active with the Public Works of Art Project under Stanton MacDonald Wright but stopped painting at the outbreak of WWII. Leaving Los Angeles in 1971, she settled in Vista, CA where she remained until her demise on April 19, 1996. She was the wife of William Porter.
