Poul Steffensen was born 1866 in Vejerslev, Denmark.  He studied under Christian Nielsen Overgaard from 1883-87.  He went to the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen from 1887 to 1890 where he was a student of Julius Exner and Carl Bloch. 

Steffensen is known for his realistic landscapes and animal paintings.  He additionally worked as an illustrator as well. (cru)
