This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Rochester, MN in January 1892. Sweet went to the University of Minnesota where he won an art scholarship to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He later worked as a medical illustrator at the Mayo Clinic for four years. After moving to Berkeley in 1917, he continued as such at UC and for a clinic in Woodland, CA (1925-32). After that time he was an illustrator at UC Medical Center in San Francisco until the time of his death on Sept. 11, 1961. In his leisure he painted landscapes and coastal scenes in watercolor; his etchings were done before 1932. Member: Ass'n of Medical Illustrators (pres.); SFAA; SWA. Exh: Kingsley Art Club (Sacramento), 1930-32; SF Artists' Cooperative, 1961 (solo).
