A sculptor since the 1950's, Soffes concentrates on the expressions and motions of the human form.
Living in the Virgin Islands, his studio and work were destroyed in the hurricane of 1989. He and his wife now live on a farm in Florida. Soffes experimented in wood and metal, before settling on clay as his medium.
Mr. Soffes was born in New York in December 12, 1925.
