A native of Clare, Michigan, he studied in Detroit and Europe and operated a school for color and design for 58 years in San Francisco, California. The Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design produced a large number of designers, architects, interior decorators, teachers and colorists.
Schaeffer taught color design at the forerunner of the California College of Arts and Crafts and was a lecturer at UC Berkeley and at Stanford University. In 1914, he was one of 25 teachers sent (showing 500 of 2029 characters). |
