| Rudolph Schmidt was born in Berkeley, CA on Aug. 6, 1897. Schmidt studied at the CSFA. He worked in San Francisco as a commercial artist from 1913 until his retirement in 1962. Early in his career he painted representational scenes of Mexico and California; after 1950 his work became more abstract.
