Biography from Sullivan Goss - An American Gallery (Artists R-Z):
| Sally Storch is a narrative scene painter based in Southern California. The subject of her work is metropolitan life, usually set in older neighborhoods.
The characters that people Storch's paintings are alone but not lonely. She paints people as they are unrelated rather than related to each other. Compositionally, Storch is after a powerful simplicity of design and figuration. She uses romantic light and deep shadow, but is never melodramatic. The warm luminism of oil paint and glazing contribute to the dramatic atmosphere of these paintings.
