The following information was submitted in March of 2006 by the artist.

Sandy Sherman was born in East Alstead New Hampshire.  She  has been painting in the traditional manner since 1980.  She enjoys creating many still life paintings using interesting affects of light and color.  She derives inspiration for painting landscapes from the natural beauty surrounding her studio at Crescent Pond in Stoddard, N.H.  Sherman creates characters by combining grotesque paintings with a cartoon like feeling {cheerful, funny and brightly colored} she calls these "Grotoons" with a tm after the word grotoon.

She studied with Richard Whitney, Debbie Crowder and Peter Granucci, and is a member of the Keene Art Association, Copley Society of Boston, Women’s Caucus For Art, Academic Artist Association, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolf Art Club, Inc.
