This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted January 2005, is from the artist.

Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and the plains of Nebraska, Sharon Standridge has become a noted painter of western genre and nostalgic figurative scenes. Using her childhood memories of growing up in these rural areas has served as inspiration for her paintings, depicting the life of the American West.

Showing an artistic talent at a young age, she was encouraged by her teacher to enter local exhibits and county fairs. As her talent grew, so did her desire to pursue art with more focus and determination. Expanding her horizons and on the move again, Standridge moved to northeast Texas. It was there that she participated in several workshops given by nationally known artists such as Edgar Whitney and Al Brouilette, working in watercolors and acrylics.

Standridge and her husband, David, are residents of north central Texas. The view from her studio overlooks the beauty and tranquility of Lake Bridgeport. They remain close to their only son and his three children who often serve as models for her paintings.
