| Watercolorist Shelly Bechtel Shepherd grew up with the influences of her mother, an artist, and her mother's artist friends all who took an interest in her art education. At 17 she traveled to Europe where she informally studied the European masters.
The artist currently teaches and has her studio at the Hand Workshop Art Center in Richmond, Virginia. She also teaches at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Nimrod Hall Summer Art Program. She is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Allied Artists of America.
