|A resident of the Sonoran desert of north Scottsdale, Arizona, Sherry
Blanchard Stuart is a traditional painter of landscapes, figures,
equine subjects and still life. She earned a BFA from the
Minneapolis College of Art and Design.|
Stuart paints mountains
and desert landscapes as well as wildlife, cowboys and ranch scenes.
She particularly enjoys painting horses and finds grooming and riding
her own horse helps her to capture the animal's beauty.
finds that being an artist in Arizona is appealing because of "the
light, the openness, the vast distances you can see, the mountains, and
the atmosphere of the desert. Also it is good to have nice
weather so much of the year so you can go out and paint."
Her work is in the Tucson Museum of Art, the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona, the Great Plains Art Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona, and the St. George Art Museum in St. George, Utah.

richness of color that illuminates the intensity of sunlight upon her
varied subject matter.
