Born in Los Angeles, CA on Jan. 13, 1915, Spohn was educated at UCLA followed by art study at the Los Angeles Art Center School under Stan Reckless and Barse Miller. Spohn also attended Immaculate Heart College where he studied with Sister Mary Corita, also known as Corita Kent. He began painting in the 1930s and worked for MGM, Walt Disney, publishers and decorators. He settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1963 and still paints at his home in Carmel.
