Biography from AskART:
The following is from the artist whose website is www.snidow.com

Steven Snidow was born in 1966 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the age of fourteen, Steven modeled for his father, a noted Western and representational artist. Shortly thereafter, Steven toured his first foundry and saw the works of other artists and came away with the feeling of, "I can do that." The next summer, Steven undertook his first professional sculpture at age fifteen. The piece, and edition of 20, sold out within ten days. Soon after Steven was spending his summer months sculpting new pieces or working for award-winning sculptor Dave McGary at McGary's Ruidoso, New Mexico bronze foundry. Steven was also luck enough to get some pointers and reference materials from noted sculptor Lincoln Fox.

Steven graduated from High School and went to college at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas where he currently resides with wife Marie and daughter Emily. While at SMU Steven did not study art and temporarily placed less emphasis on his art career while building a life with his young family. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, Steven went on to work in the physics, semiconductor, telecommunications and aerospace industries achieving success in each and gaining a Master of Arts degree in Applied Economics in the meantime.

While many will wonder at the divergence of art and economics, Steven places an emphasis on 'creative abilities.' Solving the problem of how to paint a painting, the composition of a photo, the contours and lines of a sculpture are not dissimilar to identifying the questions of economic analysis, marketing or new product invention. Each requires identification of a problem, deriving possible solutions, testing a solution and successfully implementing the solution.

Raised in New Mexico and residing in Texas, Steven's main interest is in the West both modern and historic. However, Steven has found great satisfaction in portrait work as well. As he like to state, "In an art show, you will see people speak in hushed tones about a painting or sculpture, but there is very little emotion. With portraits, I have had mother's in tears you just can't replace that level of reward." Steven's artistic efforts include sculpture, paintings and photo-based fine art prints and other endeavors reflecting other creative endeavors and collaborations which are not restricted to the traditional forms and methods of an art career.
