This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Ted Szczesniak  (TAJU)  also known as Thaddeus Szczesniak (1947-)
Ted was born in Buffalo NY in 1947.  As a young boy he was introduced to art by one of his teachers  in the Buffalo Public School system where he later won city wide poster awards for Save the Whooping Crane and  Buckle up for Safety.  He later painted designs on a church steeple in Lackawanna NY with his family.  Later he had four years of training in Electrical drawing at Seneca Vocational.

After serving in the Marine Corps (1965-1969) and Vietnam he lived in Santa Ana California and painted a few watercolor landscapes and sold them on the corner and swap meets to help survive.

He later moved back to Buffalo and went in the contracting business that took most of his time away from painting until 1987 when his wife Mary and he moved to Largo, Florida due to Ted's poor health from his service days.  There he started his passion again.  In Florida Ted started using oils which he loves using the most for he can bring out the brightest images in his landscapes; some of which won first place in veterans Fine Art Competitions.
