Thomas Sedgwick Steele was born at Hartford, CT June 11 1845, and died at
Swampscott, MA September 9, 1903. He attended Hartford High School, and
after high school was in the jewelry business with his father as a partner.
In his youth, he began drawing and painting.
In 1880 and 1882, he published two books on the woods of northern Maine, entitled "Canoe and Camera" and "Paddle and Portage." These books are lavishly illustrated with engravings and wood cuts (some depicting Ste (showing 500 of 1756 characters). |
