Originally from New Hope, Pennsylvania and Lambertville, New Jersey, the artist was born with the name Vira B. McIlrath. She married a Mr. Scheibner in 1921, and the couple lived in St. Augustine, Florida, from 1921 until her death in 1956.
She studied at the Cleveland School of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and art teachers included Robert Spencer, John F. Carlson and Charles Rosen. She exhibited at the National Association of Women Artists from 1927 (prize) through 193 (showing 500 of 751 characters). |
