| Vladimir Shamberk was born in Czechoslovakia in May 1870. Shamberk studied in Munich, Paris, and in Rome with Giovanni Morello. An itinerant artist, he was in Chicago in 1899, Los Angeles in 1924, Chicago again in 1927, and in 1928 he was called to Rome to paint Pope Pius XI. In 1932 he moved to Milwaukee and was there during the Depression while working on the Federal Art Project. As well as portraits, he also painted religious genre.
Works held: Wisconsin Conservatory of Music (Milwaukee).
