| Landscape painter. Born in GaIt, CA on Jan. 8, 1868.
Sawyer studied art in Sacramento with Wm F. Jackson at the Crocker Art Gallery and then served as Jackson's assistant for several years.
He spent his entire life in the GaIt area operating a dairy farm, mercantile business and as the postmaster. Sawyer died in the St Helena (CA) Sanitarium on Oct. 6, 1945.
