Born on August 17, 1952 in Louisiana, Welmon Sharlehorne is a self-taught artist who uses pen and markers on paper to create images of imaginary spaces and creatures. His drawings of imaginary structures, birds and other creatures often incorporate the image of a clock. Sharlehorne has spent over half of his adult life in prison, where he drew a large number of his works in pen on manila envelopes.
