William A. Sherwood (1875-1951)
Born on February 13, 1875 in Baltimore, Maryland, he studied at St. John's College in Annapolis between 1889 and 1893 and later at the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium.
Sherwood lived in Bruges, Belgium for more than 20 years. He made his name in Belgian painting circles for his surrealist water color interpretations of dreams. Several of his paintings and etchings are in the collection of Queen Mother Elizabeth of Belgium. < (showing 500 of 1037 characters). |
