This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Andy Scheidt, son of the artist:

Bill Scheidt was born in San Antonio and was the first of four children of a German immigrant family. After graduating from high school, Scheidt spent some time in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a career in automotive research. During this career, Scheidt also learned the craft of horseshoeing, and he even achieved the rank of Certified Farrier. His careers along with experiences hunting and working on his father's ranch in Bandera County, Texas had a direct influence on the subject matter of his works.

Scheidt is largely self-taught, though he has studied with several members of the Cowboy Artists of America, and he has exhibited his works in invitational shows. He attributes James Reynolds, Ron Riddick, and Roy Anderson with having the greatest influence on his own artwork.

Besides creating works that feature the life of the cowboy, the Native American, and the wildlife of North America, Scheidt also produces a significant number of portraits. Some of his works are also available as limited edition giclee canvas prints.

Scheidt is a member of Oil Painters of America, Texas Wild Bunch Professional Artists, American Plains Artists, and the Boerne Area Artists Association.
The following was submitted by Sue Willoughby, Prescott, Arizona. Her source was material from the artist:

Bill Scheidt, from Boerne, Texas, began his career as a painter in 1987, and by 1996, was a full-time easel painter. He is largely self taught but has studied at the Scottsdale Artists School with John Cox and has taken Cowboy Artist of America workshops from Ron Riddick, Roy Andersen, Joe Beeler, Jim Norton, and Bruce Greene. Oil is his preferred medium, and his subject matter includes North American wildlife, Native Americans, and cowboy figure and genre.

In 1998, he was awarded the prize for best oil painting, "Taos Elder II", at the River Art Show in San Antonio, and in 1999, he won the People's Choice Award in the same show for "Intimidation". Scheidt was invited by John Goodman to participate in the 1999 Mountain Oyster Club Art Show in Tucson, Arizona, where he sold his piece "My Favorite Hat". Other shows in which he has participated are the Phippen Western Art Show, the Southwest Classic Invitational Fine Art Show, and the Alamo Kiwanis Invitational Western Art Show.

Scheidt also teaches oil-painting classes and workshops at the Highland House Studio/Gallery in Boerne, and has worked with another artist on monument-sized sculptures and other large commissions.
