| An early Texas settler and sheriff, William Samuel arrived in Texas in the early 1830s and fought in the Indian Wars for the government of San Antonio.
Self taught, he did town views and portraits of important personages in naive style. The Witte Museum owns his four view of the San Antonio town plaza.
