The following is submitted by Gary Stanley of San Diego:

William Grant Sherry was born in Amagansett, New York in 1914. He studied at the Academie Julian in Paris, France with Pierre Jerome. He also studied at the Heatherly School of Art In London with noted artist Ian McNab.

He was Art Director of the Florida Gulf Coast Art Club in Beleair, Florida from 1957 to 1964, and instructor at Hamilton Air Force Base in Ignacio, California from 1965 to 1967.

His works have been exhibited at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, California; Colby College in Maine; Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, Maine; Springfield Museum of Fine Art, Springfield, Ma; Museum of Art, fort Lauderdale, Florida; Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida; ADI Gallery in San Francisco, California; Boston Arts Festival; the Center Street Gallery in Winter Park, Florida; and the Laguna Festival of the Arts in Laguna Beach, California.

He has been an award winner in many of the venues in which he exhibited. His works are on display in the American Embassy in Pakistan, and the Parliament Building in Canada.

 Born in Amagansett, New York on December 7, 1914.  Sherry studied at Academie Julian in Paris and Heatherly School in London.  He taught art at the Florida Gulf Coast Art Club in Beleair, Florida during 1957-64 and at Hamilton Air Force Base in Ignacio, California during 1965-67.  He died at his home in Mill Valley, California on January 6, 1995.  Exhibited:  Ringling Museum (Sarasota, Florida), 1949; Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, 1951 (prize); Springfield Museum, 1957 (prize); Boston Arts Festival, 1956; Art USA, Madison Square Garden, 1958; DeYoung Museum (San Francisco), 1970s.  Works held:  Farnsworth Museum (Rockland, Maine); Modern Museum (Ft Lauderdale, Florida); Springfield (Massachusetts) Museum; American Embassy  (Pakistan); Parliament Bldg (Canada).
