| | Born in Rothville, MO on Oct. 19, 1878. By the turn of the century, Skinner had moved to California. A mining engineer by profession, in 1901 he began a three-year apprenticeship in the studio of sculptor Arthur Putnam in San Francisco. During this time he met his future wife, Charlotte Butler. He was a resident of Lone Pine (Inyo County) in 1932, San Francisco in 1937, and then settled in Morro Bay, CA where he remained until his death on Sept. 6, 1952.
