"I draw and paint in a variety of mediums: charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic and oil. I enjoy painting and drawing surrealist subject matter that incorporates a lot of texture, implied and actual. I began painting watercolor in 1997, oil in 2003, and a variety of other mediums between 2006 and 2009. Native to and currently residing in Thousand Oaks, California, I find a lot of inspiration in the diverse culture of Southern California, particularly in the boardwalk at Venice Beach, the streets and venues of Hollywood, and the coastal mountains of Malibu. I am currently a college student majoring in Art Education in attempts to teach in the public school system. "

| Artist Statement: I have taken art classes throughout elementary, middle and high school, both in and out of the public school system. I would love to pass along the gift I have received from my teachers. I believe art is a gift to be passed along and shared with everyone, and keeping art in the public school system is vital to the wellness of the students and the community. Art education within the classroom grants every student the opportunity to discover his or her strengths and passions. I have developed great relationships with my teachers that I hope to duplicate with my own future students. It has been my experience that art brings people together - whether its form be the fine arts, music, dance, photography, or another. Art is immortal, but keeping it alive within the public school system should be a priority.
