Artist Statement:

I am a treasure hunter and seeker of light and beauty. I am sensitive to the emotional response I have to nature and the energy of light, color, transparency, and shadows. I am a seeker of a momentary heightened state of awareness. I am an illusionist and painter of reality, dreams, and poetic feelings. I use my home surroundings and objects to orchestrate compositions of light, shape, and color. The white of the paper showing through the thin washes of watercolor is the perfect vehicle to render the backlit glass bottles and flowers that became my chosen subject matter. I also love to paint the natural surroundings of California and Hawaii, where the sunlight is dramatic and highlights the plants and flowers that I find uplifting to my soul.
