This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biography is from Steve Tommey, son of the artist:

Bob Tommey, nationally known painter and sculptor, was born March 2, 1928 in Ozan, Arkansas. He is best known for his Western Art and is an admired and
respected art teacher with a long list of successful artists who credit
Bob's expertise for their achievements.

Since 1978, he has been a founder and driving force behind the Midwest
Gathering of the Artists show held annually in his adopted home of Carthage,
Missouri. And with fellow artist Bill Snow, Tommey created the bronze sculpture of TV's Marlin Perkins (host of Mutual of Omaha's "Wild Kingdom" and world famous zoologist) which now stands in Carthage Central Park.

His work is known for its composition, clarity, color and unique use of
light textures, as well as, his meticulous backgrounds which support and
enhance the central theme.
