C. S. Tarpley was a wild child growing up in Santa Fe, New
Mexico. A high school teacher turned him on to jewelry making and
helped to steer him onto a path that would lead to a productive and
successful career as an artist.
After high school, Tarpley
worked with a jeweler, then poured molds in a foundry and finally set
off to explore the country from New York to Seattle. In 1994 he
was invited to visit the Denver studio of glass artist Kitt
