| | Born in Franklin Grove, IL on Feb. 22, 1902. Taubenheim moved to California during the Depression of the 1930s. While working as a day laborer, he painted regionalist scenes during his leisure. After moving to Santa Cruz, CA in 1939, he painted in the mountains there until entering the Army at the outbreak of WWII. While stationed at Hickam in Hawaii, he painted many scenes of Pearl Harbor. After the war he returned to Santa Cruz where he painted and worked as a gardener until his demise on Feb. 14, 1989.
