Costa Tsoclis was born in Athens in 1930.  He studied at the Athens Academy of Fine Arts from 1948 to 1954 under Moralis.  He lived and worked in Rome from 1957 to 1960 with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation, then moved to Paris, where he lived until 1976.

He went to Berlin with a DAAD scholarship from 1971 to 1972, then divided his time between Athens and Paris until 1983.  He has spent increasingly long periods in Greece ever since.

He has shown his work in solo exhibitions in the largest cities in Europe and the United States, and taken part in major international group events, including: Paris Biennale in 1963 and 1965, Sao Paulo Biennale in 1965, Documenta Kassel in 1975.  He represented Greece at the 1986 Venice Biennale with Karas.

A tribute to his youthful work from 1950 to 1959 was presented by the Frysira Museum in 2001. A major retrospective of his work was presented in the National Museum of Contemporary Art in 2001.  He has been a member of the Sigma group.  His works for public spaces include the forecourt of the Archaeological Museum, Thessaloniki in 1988, and the Ethnikis Amynis underground railway station, Athens in 2000.
