A student at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, Dan Thompson is an award-winning portrait and figure painter, having received in 2001 the grand prize for his self portrait from the American Society of Portrait Artists. He was selected from 600 artists.

His style is representational, and the artist Diego Velazquez has been a great inspiration for him. After art school, Thompson studied with portraitists Cedric and Joanette Egeli in Maryland and later at the Academy of Art and the (showing 500 of 4408 characters).
