This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A painter, educator and author, Daniel V. Thompson was a key person in the revival of tempera painting. From the 1920s to 1933, he was a professor at Yale University, which became one of the first centers of revival of tempera due in large part to his establishment of a course in tempera.
Thompson then went to London, where he was Research and Technical Adviser of the Courtauld Institute. His book, The Practice of Tempera Painting, published in 1936 did much to promote the medium.
