Edward Martin Taber was born on Staten Island, NY July 21, 1863. He showed a great gift for painting at an early age but suffered from ill health, tuberculosis, throughout his short life. He studied only a few months with Abbott Henderson Thayer and left New York around 1889 for health reasons to live in the mountains of Stowe, Vermont.
Taber is considered a leading 19th century Vermont landscape painter, but his paintings are extremely scarce due to his short life and his in (showing 500 of 1793 characters). |
