| | Born in Crockett, TX on April 2, 1894. Ella married Will Thomas and settled in San Diego in 1917. About 1932 she moved north to Santa Barbara and remained there until her death on March 11, 1947. An African-American, her work includes landscapes of southern California and Dutch interiors.
