| | Born in Switzerland on April 29, 1892. Hugentobler settled in San Francisco in 1919 after serving in WWI. A self-taught artist, he was active in the local art scene and made many painting excursions into Yosemite and northern California. He worked as both artist and watchmaker until his death at the local Veteran's Hospital on Dec. 28, 1964. The artist also signed his works Emil Tobler.
