Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter. Born in Trayer, IA on May 19, 1881.

Georgia came to California in a covered wagon in 1883 and settled in Pomona where her father established the first bank. Artistically inclined at an early age, she was never without a sketch pad. After graduating from Pomona College and her marriage to Dr. Roy Thomas in 1907, she moved to Phoenix.

She returned to Los Angeles in the early 1920s and settled in Hancock Park. She studied locally with Paul Sample with whom she became a painting partner and lifelong friend.

Mrs. Thomas died at her home in Hancock Park on Sept. 27, 1976. Her oeuvre has remained intact and her paintings rarely seen since the artist never sold any of her works which include plein air landscapes of the areas around her homes in Phoenix and Los Angeles as well as portraits, stilt lifes, and seascapes.

Exh: Calif. Art Club, 1922, 1930; Ebell Club (LA) and Hollywood Womens Club, 1997 (retrospectives). In: Pepperdine Univ. (Malibu). AAA 1925; lnvw.
