| Born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 29, 1878. Tobriner studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute where she was greatly influenced by Arthur Mathews. Upon graduation, she taught art in San Francisco at Galileo and Washington high schools for many years. She made many trips to Europe to study art and to collect paintings by European masters. A spinster and lifelong resident of San Francisco, she died on Oct. 31, 1968. Albeit rare, her works include landscapes of northern California. Exh: SFAA, 19 (showing 500 of 720 characters). |
