| Born in Guatemala of English parents on May 3, 1886. Thurburn was in Paris with artist Roi Partridge in 1913. By 1920 he had moved to California and was active in Santa Barbara as a designer of book plates and theater sets. He appears to have moved to Los Angeles in 1936 and was active there until the onset of World War Two. He died in Europe in January 1981.
