| | Born in Germany on Jan. 24, 1894. Tiesler immigrated to California in 1918 and became a U.S. citizen in 1922. During the 1930s he was a second officer aboard the ferries on San Francisco Bay and later was a warehouseman. His love of the sea is evident in his paintings of the ships and ferries which plied the bay. He lived in Sausalito, Oakland, and his last decade was spent in Napa, CA where he died on Jan. 9, 1975.
