| Landscape painter James Topping was born February 25, 1879 in Cleator Moor, Cumberland, England. He took his art training with John Adamson at Cumberland Technical School of Art in England in 1894-1896, and at the Art Institute of Chicago with Louis Wilson in 1904, 1909, 1912-1914. Topping lived, at various times, in England from 1879-1903, moving to Chicago from 1903-1922, and to Oak Park, Illinois from 1922 until his death on July 24, 1948. He married Emily Allen on October 16, 1904 in Cripple (showing 500 of 3330 characters). |
