Joshua Tolford (1910-1985)
He was an important member of the Rockport/Gloucester/Cape Ann art colony. Born in Wisconsin, he studied and painted in the Gloucester/Rockport Mass. area. He was a student of Anthony Thieme. Tolford was a juried member of the Rockport Art Association from 1941-1958. He was an artist for the WPA in the 1940's and also illustrated many popular books.
Perhaps he is best remembered, along with his wife Irina, for running the "Home Ind (showing 500 of 951 characters). |
