| Born in Sacramento, CA on Sept. 1, 1916. Thielen majored in art at Sacramento Jr College and earned a master’s degree from Mills College in 1941. In that year one of her paintings appeared in Life magazine. At Mills she studied under Lyonel Feininger and assisted Roi Partridge for a few years. By 1948 she was married and had been living in Mexico City for several years as Louise Reynoso.
