|  After studying at the Chicago Art Institute on scholarship, Lyle Tayson Sr. began his art career as a commercial illustrator. By the 1980’s he had established himself as a premiere easel painter in Western art. Today he is known for his western genre and landscapes. Additionally, twenty of his paintings depicting the Lewis and Clark Expedition are in the permanent collection of the University of Oregon. The artist resides in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
