Obituary. Published on: Sunday, Nov 23, 2014

Lyle was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., the second son of Arthur L. and Margie May Tayson.  He was raised in Chicago, where he attended the Art Institute of Chicago.

Lyle served as a U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II and served again as a U.S. Army Sergeant during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge, he married his wife, Irene, and during their 46 years of marriage they raised their five children: Theresa, John, Jennifer, Lyle Jr. and Katrina.

In 1975, Lyle left a commercial art career in Chicago and brought his family to "The West" and settled in Cheyenne, where Lyle enjoyed a successful Western art career for many years. His mastery of authentic portraits honoring Native Americans and the American Cowboy, as well as Lyle's magnificent landscapes and wildlife paintings, now hang beautifully in countless art collections.

Lyle is survived by his sons, John and Lyle Jr.; his daughters, Katrina and Jennifer; and his two grandsons, Eric and Mark, all residing in the Front Range area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Margie; his brother, Virgil; his wife, Irene; and his eldest daughter, Theresa.

Lyle will be remembered along with other local veterans on Jan. 30 at VA Medical Center's memorial service. Friends and family are invited to attend.
