Biography from Long Gallery:
| When she is not traveling through Europe, with pochade box and oil paints in her backpack, Marjorie Taylor can be found painting along the coast or canyons near San Diego home.
Marjorie combines her love of painting with her passion for travel and exploration. She has spent months painting in France, Spain and Italy, as well as throughout the western United States. Painting plein-air enables Marjorie to capture the atmosphere of a place and brings authenticity to her work. When painting in the studio, she approaches the blank canvas with the same immediacy and spontaneity found in her plein air paintings, whether the subject is portrait, figure, still life or scenes from her recent travels.
Marjorie Taylor graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Art 1983. After a successful 14 year career, Marjorie Taylor resigned from her Graphic Design/Illustration business to pursue painting full-time. Marjorie studied oil painting under Lela Harty and has taken workshops with Kim English, Jove Wang, Ray Roberts, Mark Daily and Ned Mueller.
She shows regularly with the California Art Club San Diego Regional Chapter, at the San Diego Art Institute, and the LaJolla Arts Association. She recently participated in Tucson Charitable Arts Plein Air 2001 and has had paintings auctioned at the La Jolla Symphony. Marjorie has paintings in private and corporate collections throughout the US, as well as in France, Spain, Belgium and Italy.
She is a member of the California Art Club (Painting Patron, San Diego Regional Chapter) San Diego Artists Guild, San Diego Art Institute, Laguna Plein Air Painters, San Diego Portrait Society and the LoJolla Art Association.
