Mildred Valley Thornton, (née Stinson) was born in Dresden, Ontario. She studied at Olivet College, Michigan (1910); under J. W. Beatty [see AskART] and George Reid [see AskART] at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto (1910); and at the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois (1910).
Working in oil and watercolour, she is known for her bold colourful native portraits, and prairie and west coast landscape with mountains and coastal scenes. Her subjects include native ceremo (showing 500 of 4248 characters). |
